Parenting Support

You Don’t Have to Figure It Out Alone

When your child is struggling, parenting can start to feel like constant guesswork.

You may be wondering whether to push or back off. Whether this is anxiety, ADHD, Autism, behaviour, burnout, school stress, or just a hard stage. You may have tried strategies that work for other families, only to find they do not quite fit your child.
Many parents come to us saying things like:

“I’ve tried everything.”

“Nothing seems to work for long.”

“I don’t know if I’m being too soft or too hard.”

“I need someone to help me understand what is actually going on.”

At Family Minded, we help parents make sense of their child’s behaviour, emotions, anxiety, overwhelm and developmental needs. Before we jump to strategies, we work with you to understand what may be driving the difficulties, what your child needs, and what support may actually help.

We offer a range of flexible parent supports, including:
  • one-to-one parent consultations
  • parent-only therapy sessions
  • child and parent therapy sessions
  • online webinars and short courses
  • face-to-face parent groups that are supportive and informative
  • telehealth consultations
  • support following Autism, ADHD or learning assessments
  • guidance around school, behaviour, anxiety, emotional regulation and family stress

Our approach is warm, practical and neurodiversity-affirming. We support parents to feel clearer, more confident and less alone in working out the next helpful step.

Parent support may be helpful if you are:
  • feeling exhausted by daily battles or emotional outbursts
  • unsure whether your child needs therapy or assessment
  • supporting an autistic, ADHD, anxious or highly sensitive child
  • navigating school refusal, friendship stress or learning concerns
  • receiving conflicting advice from school, family, professionals or social media
  • wanting strategies that are realistic for your child and family
  • looking for a place to pause, think and plan with support

Some families need a single consultation to talk things through. Others benefit from regular parent sessions, a group program, a webinar, or support alongside their child’s therapy.

You do not need to wait until things get worse. Reaching out can be a practical first step towards understanding your child and feeling less stuck.

Family Minded offers parent support from our Sunbury and Sydenham clinics, as well as via telehealth.
