Our Expected Behaviour Policy

At Family Minded, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for clients, families, staff and visitors, both in person and online.

Our values of celebrating diversity, integrity, collaboration, curiosity, compassion and creativity guide how we expect everyone to engage with one another.

What we expect from everyone

We ask all clients, parents, carers and visitors to:

Treat others with respect

  • Speak and communicate respectfully with staff, clinicians, clients and other families.

  • Do not use abusive, threatening, discriminatory, intimidating or harassing language or behaviour.

  • Raise concerns in a calm and constructive way wherever possible.

Help us maintain a safe environment

  • Aggression, threats, intimidation, bullying or other unsafe behaviour will not be accepted.

  • Behaviour that places another person at risk may require immediate action.

  • Children should be appropriately supervised while attending the clinic.

Respect privacy

  • Do not discuss, record or share information about other clients or families.

  • Be mindful of conversations in waiting rooms, group programs and other shared spaces.

  • Respect the confidentiality and privacy of others when engaging online.

Care for our clinic spaces

  • Treat clinic property and equipment with reasonable care.

  • Let staff know if something is damaged or creates a safety concern.

What happens if these expectations are not met

We will usually try to address concerns respectfully and give people an opportunity to understand what needs to change.

Depending on the seriousness or pattern of behaviour, Family Minded may:

  • discuss the concern and set clear expectations for future contact

  • change how communication with the clinic occurs

  • move appointments to telehealth where appropriate

  • pause in-person or other services while concerns are addressed

  • discontinue services where safe and respectful engagement cannot be maintained.

If behaviour creates an immediate safety risk, we may act straight away to protect clients, staff and visitors.

An inclusive clinic

Family Minded welcomes people of different neurotypes, cultures, genders, identities, backgrounds and family structures.

We expect everyone who engages with our service to treat others with dignity and respect and to help maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all.
