Lower-Cost Options
We recognise that the cost of therapy can be a barrier for some families.

Lower-cost appointments may be available with provisional psychologists or selected psychologists. Please speak with our team if cost is affecting your ability to access support.

If our reduced-fee options are still not affordable, you may wish to speak with your GP about whether you are eligible for support through CAREinMIND.

Family Minded does not bulk bill.

Screening & Summary Report
-
1 screening measure — $75
-
2 screening measures — $100
-
3 screening measures — $125
This option is best if you already know the area you would like screened.
Screening includes validated questionnaire(s), clinician review and a brief written summary of results and recommended next steps.

Screening may explore areas such as attention, executive functioning, autism characteristics, anxiety, emotional wellbeing or behaviour, depending on the reason for referral.
Screening does not provide a diagnosis.

If you proceed to a related comprehensive assessment with Family Minded within 3 months, the screening fee paid will be credited towards the assessment cost.

Assessment Pathway Consultation — $175
This option is best if you are not sure what type of assessment or screening would be most useful.
The consultation includes:
-
discussion with a psychologist about your concerns and relevant history;
-
selected screening where clinically useful;
-
discussion of possible assessment pathways; and
-
a brief written summary with recommendations for next steps.
Recommendations may include an Autism, ADHD, cognitive or learning assessment, therapy, school-based support, medical review or other services.
An Assessment Pathway Consultation does not provide a diagnosis.
If you proceed to a recommended comprehensive assessment with Family Minded within 3 months, the $175 fee will be credited towards the assessment cost.

Comprehensive Assessments
Fees for Autism, ADHD, cognitive, learning and other comprehensive assessments vary depending on the assessment required.

You will receive a clear assessment plan and fee before commencing.

If you have already completed a related Screening & Summary or Assessment Pathway Consultation with Family Minded within the previous 3 months, the amount paid will be credited towards the cost of your comprehensive assessment.

Medicare
Medicare rebates may be available for eligible psychology sessions where you have a valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan, Chronic Condition Management Plan, or Eating Disorder Plan from your GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist.
Medicare rebates generally do not apply to:
-
provisional psychologist appointments;
-
standalone screening packages;
-
Assessment Pathway Consultations; or
-
comprehensive diagnostic, developmental, cognitive or educational assessments (unless referred by Paed or Psychiatrist in particular circumstances)

Family Minded does not bulk bill.

Please speak with our team if you are unsure whether a Medicare rebate applies to your appointment.

NDIS
We welcome self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants.
Our usual service fees apply to NDIS-funded appointments, subject to applicable NDIS pricing limits.
Additional agreed services such as reports, stakeholder liaison, case conferences, travel or other non-face-to-face clinical work may be charged separately where permitted under current NDIS arrangements.
Any additional charges will be discussed with you in advance.

Private Health Insurance
Some private health insurers provide rebates for psychology services.
Rebates vary between funds and levels of cover, so we recommend checking directly with your insurer.
Private health rebates do not apply to provisional psychologist appointments.

Reports and Additional Clinical Work
Reports, letters, forms, school liaison, case conferences and other clinical work completed outside scheduled appointments may attract an additional fee.
Where substantial additional work is required, we will discuss the cost with you beforehand.
